Our Under 11s made club history over the weekend of April 11th, becoming the first Mowden Park representatives to tour Munster. A travelling party of 63 players, parents, and coaches made the journey, capping off what has already been a fantastic season for the group.
Hosted by the prestigious Cork Constitution, the tour began on Friday afternoon with a Captain’s Run, followed by a warm welcome and introduction to the Cork coaching team. The boys were also given the opportunity to explore the clubhouse and changing rooms, taking in the rich history of a club that has produced players who have gone on to represent Munster, Ireland, and the British & Irish Lions.
Despite challenging conditions on the Saturday morning with hail, rain, and strong winds, spirits remained high. The squad received an inspiring welcome from Munster, Ireland, and British & Irish Lions legend Donncha O'Callaghan before taking to the famous Temple Hill first-team pitch.
Fielding two teams, Mowden competed in eight matches across the day, recording an impressive seven victories. Beyond the results, players and coaches were widely praised for their performance, attitude, and the respect they showed both on and off the field — a true reflection of the club’s values.
Following the matches, both teams gathered for post-match speeches before enjoying a well-earned BBQ together, sharing stories and celebrating a fantastic day of rugby.
This tour was an incredible experience for everyone involved, creating lasting friendships and unforgettable memories for players, parents, and coaches alike.
A huge thank you goes to Paul, Leon, Donncha O'Callaghan, and everyone at Cork Constitution for their outstanding hospitality and for making the weekend so special.
