U8s vs Redcar - Match Report

Minis rugby is unpredictable, probably something to do with the core product, minis, it's near impossible to predict how the team are going to perform, but sometime it just clicks, today was that day.

Both squads where up for good, fast running rugby, and this made it easier for the coaches to keep the game running, and the tries flowing. In the first match Mowden ran out victors by 7 tries to 5, with one phase of play taking us from one end of the pitch, to the other, and back again - with both teams taking the opposition to 1 tag away from turnover, with both team's coaches commenting on how it was some of the best rugby seen at any minis age group.

The second match was more in our favour (however credit to Redcar, we had the numbers to swap the entire squad out at half time), running in 8 tries to the visitors 3 - but after a stumble start again more open, running rugby, with beautiful support play, genuine hand offs in the tag and pre-emptive passes the premiership would have been proud of.

Today's player of the day was Dan Lillystone, a one man tagging machine who also ran in two tries of his own
