As is the norm we open by thanking all the parents that travelled, we hard 11 Under 8s on the roster at Bishop today, continuing the welcome problem of having too many kids to choose from!.
The team played 4 matches in total, individually recording two draws, a clear win, and and equally emphatic loss. On aggregate the score line records a loss, but as we all know if you play another minute more often another score is made to even things out.
Overall though the standard was great, especially in the fourth and final match, to which the Bishop coach reflected that it was probably the best game of minis rugby he had witnessed in all his time. Despite a mid match break as the wind deposited the previously sidelined bags, chairs, spare tags (and a few players) unceremoniously into the pitch, it was a very close 3 - 3 draw. Showcasing the focus on rewarding good defensive play we were able to take Bishop to turnover (get 7 tags in a row without them scoring) on two occasions in this match.
Next week it's back at home for training, in advance for use hosting a minis festival in a few weeks.
