Today's trip down the road to Blackwell Grange was a frustrating one, mostly dependent on which of the two teams you spent the morning watching! As always we split the squad down the middle in terms of abilities, experience, size and any other factors to present two evenly matched teams.
DMP Blues went with Mark and by any accounts had an excellent day out in the sun, starting with an open game against Durham A.
Started off with a strong, well drilled defence which paid off. Good support play resulted in outstanding passes and great rugby that was fun to watch. Durham 3 to DMP's 9 tries.
Second game against Yarm - more of the same. Score 12 tries to- 3 win to DMP, and lastly the hosts Darlington. Closer game but solid defence & great support play for all involved with Sam scoring 4 of the 6 tries (all from good support) ending DMP 6 to Darlington 4
DMP Whites were pitched against Barnard Castle as first order of the day, and whilst our attacking ability was never in doubt our defines was lacking that led to a 5 tries each draw. Second game we seemed to come alive with a 12 tries to 3 victory against a brave Stockton (the score line ending looking a far worse reflection of their ability and effort in the game). Finally we took on Houghton, but our defence left us again, with both teams taking it in turns to score leaving a 6 tries all draw.
Man of the match was Max, great strength running, support play that would be an example to all, and if that wasn't enough a couple of one handed off loads to amaze the crowd!
