Glad to report that this week we saw blue skys, warm weather, barely a breeze, no rain and dry, soft ground - perfect rugby playing conditions over at Stockton RFC's impressive facilities, tucked away in Norton.
Again we took two squads, and both our Blues and Whites got the opportunity to play a Stockton and Durham side. The Mowden Blues took on Durham first, and were often undone by their impressive wide passing that left our defence wide open, however our excellent support play meant that speed won out, victorious by 7 tries to 4. Blues then took on a brave Stockton team, in a scrappy game, emerging the winners by 8 tries to nil.
Mowden Whites were up first against Stockton, and whilst the 12 try to 2 win may seem one sided we were ran hard, with a quite literal blood and guts display from one of Stockton's young ladies that would put many of us to shame. The White's turn against Durham came next, which was a true, fast paced end to end battle on s some now tired legs. Neither team gave up though, with Durham edging it by 6 tries to 5 on the last play.
So much positivity, no doubt helped by the weather, it was a beautiful day for minis rugby.
