Potentially the most scenic backdrop to minis rugby we've seen yet, with the Bowes Museum looming over you, and the view down into the valley across the river, and all the more appreciable without the freezing rain, wind, and hail whipping across you! So we had to man (and woman up) and get on it with it.
Space limited us in match one as we got used to a smaller pitch (we all agreed better to play multiple games at once on smaller pitches than to keep the kids hanging about in the cold) which saw a hard fought 30 - 30 draw between DMP Blues and Barnard Castle, it was then straight on for the Blues in a far more flowing 40-20 win over Ryton where we managed to play from some truly impressive, flowing, running hand off. The support play was exemplary and won applause from all sides fans.
In parallel the Mowden Whites again run in a draw in match one, 25 - 25 with Barnard Castle, and then worked are to eventually secure a 30-25 win against Ryton, which saw our Woman of the Match - Flora, come into her own, a one girl tagging machine, some great support play, and a try of her own.
The weather looked lined up to spoil everything but the kids were great, the played through, kept warm, and impressed us all - Thank you to all the parent's who made the trip, the support is invaluable
