After a frustrating start, weather wise to 2015, finally we get out to play, doubly important as our numbers have grown to the point where we can put our two teams, the Mowden Blues, and the Mowden Whites.
Today's road trip saw us at Welfare Park that houses Horden RFC, and we were also visited by Consett, both new teams to us at this age group and great to see new opposition.
Once the chill of the fog had lifted and the players warmed up we got on to the matter of playing Tag Rugby, our first match vs Horden got off to a nervous start, but we came out the victors by 4 trys to 2, but significant credit should go to our opposition for their selfishness in passing, and willingness to pass before the tag creating a fast flowing game. Something we were genuinely envious off ...
... so we stole it! Giving our players extra focus on looking to pass before the tag we went out against Consett and ended victorious by 7 tries to 1, with some out stand support and passing play, the layoff from Cole to Lauchlan on the wing for one of our opening tries reminiscent of players who had been team mates for seasons, not a pairing in their first competitive match together.
The future looks very good for the Mowden Family at U8 level, thank you all for your support
