A beautiful winters day (with the chill offset thanks to a layer of mad) awaited the U8s today as they played a series of games at Blackwell Meadows against hosts Darlington and fellow visitors Bishop Auckland. It also gave us a chance to run out our shiny new shirts (thank you SG Petch and Acorn Dairys) - not so shiny now!
Turn out was one of the best of the season, with 12 players (enough for two teams at this level) and some debuts too. 4 games in all were played, and as ever at this level we had the incomprehensible mix of good, bad, and outstanding play! The run down of the games (thanks score keeper!) was;
The final game was played with an imposed condition of a minimum of 2 passes in a phase before a try could be scored (to encourage passing and team play), and this showed us at out best as the work spent on support play really showed out.
