Outstanding performance !!!

Last Sunday 13 March 2016 we were away against Yarm at Allens West. It was a bright spring morning with soft ground and the prospect of good rugby in the air. We were not disappointed from the kick off the two sides were evenly matched. In the first half we had plenty of possession but Yarm edged in front. Our speed and handling kept the pressure on which paid off when Szymon broke through to score and there would have been another if the pitch markings were clear. 20 minutes each way proved to be a good test of fitness there were some outstanding personal efforts notably:

Ben Brown, George Hardy and Tom McCue who kept their engines running flat out strong in defence and attack.
Nick after receiving some Dutch encouragement from Koen on the touch line made some aggressive carries and accurate passes.
Edmund who previously has only made a charge from set pieces took the ball in open play and crashed over the gain line making vital meters. Jamie Reaves tackling was awesome driving back bigger Yarm players.
James Peart at no 10 controlling our distribution and making play on the front foot and winning it on the back.
Tom Lye with good hands and testing runs.
Davie Smith and Mathew combined to put an attack together on the wing.
Kieran despite working hard in the forwards made several breaks; one when brought down only a meter short by a determined Yarm player popped the ball up for George there in text book support went over the whitewash.
Faith showing the boys how to take the ball on and control the contact to make ground and retaining possession.
Tom Tuer courageously falling on the ball after a covering kick from Yarm.
Ben Lear and James Wilson putting in some real effort and determination at the ruck.
Jack leading the attacks from kick off and open play.
Olly moving the ball freely into space.
The team is showing greater urgency and determination, our handing is improving the ball been given and received at pace, rucking and mauling sees us winning ball and there’s trust in each other to be there. To quote Carole Lear it’s a pleasure to watch the Mowden Under12s play.

This Sunday 20 March we are at home to Stockton.
