Great U12s Result

On what should have been a glorious sunny morning for rugby at West Hartlepool for the U12's, quickly descended into a cold winters morning for rugby. It was a sight to behold seeing all the parents huddled together (like penguins in the arctic) on the side lines trying to position themselves in order to be shielded from the worst aspects of the cold wind and rain. The shouts of 'I should have brought my gloves' and 'I've left my hat' soon echoed around the rugby pitch, however, these soon ended once the teams took to the field.

To assist the development of both teams who make the transition to juniors next season, both teams decided to play not only on a full size pitch but to field 15 players each. The decision of not to allow handoffs soon circulated around the field, with all the players mumbling something under their breaths about the decision, (all just out of earshot of the parents).

DMP U12's were keen to show West Hartlepool why they are the County Cup Champions and following the whistle, a fantastic display of rugby ensued. DMP U12's confidence was high as was the amount of try's they scored. West Hartlepool provided a decent opposition for the team and have a number of future 1st team players in their mist, however, as the final whistle sounded, DMP U12's were again victorious and having saluted West Hartlepool, for their efforts, all DMP U12's players left the field with smiles.

Due to the size of the pitch, the forwards on both teams had their work cut out having to cover the length of the pitch, but they gave it their all and should be congratulated for their efforts, in stark contrast, the backs of both teams seemed at ease with the distance and took it within their stride.

As the season draws to a close, we look forward to a very bright future with the team when they make the move to U13's.
