Barnard Castle 29 vs. Mowden Park 0
Mowden Park Taught a lesson by Barnard Castle.
With recent weather we were lucky to get a fixture, however, DMP failed to make the most of the opportunity to play!
After a brief mix up of which pitch we were playing on the game finally got under way. It was clear to see that a number of the Mowden players did not have their game heads on. With poor decision making, moments of not being aware to various situations and a few players being lethargic it was quite literally an uphill struggle.
Credit to Barnard Castle, they played well and their constant turning over of Mowden ball enabled them to have large amounts of possession. They took advantage of gaps left by Mowdens lack of concentration and ran out worthy winners.
To those Mowden players that did mentally turn up and gave 100% ~ well done. To those who were a little off the pace both physically and mentally I hope it’s a lesson learnt.
Mowden need to learn from this result and understand that just turning up with basic skills is not enough. Players need to be switched on from the moment they start warming up to the final whistle. Rugby is also about mental strength, not just brut force.
With the Christmas break ahead of us, it should give players & coaches time to rest both physically and mentally.
Look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
