U13s County Cup Champions... AGAIN!

U13 County Cup Final

The lads arrived at a snow and sunshine drenched Consett on Sunday morning to face our Durham neighbours Barnard Castle in this much anticipated U13 County Cup Final.

We knew it was going to be close but who knew just how close!

DMP took the early lead from two penalties in the oppositions 22 with two well executed kicks. We were off!!

The game was dominated by closely contested rucking and strong defence from an inform Barnard Castle back line. Our physical dominance and patience at the breakdown minimised our penalty count which seemed to give us an advantage. DMP scored a converted try followed by a uncovered score by the opposition to take us into a half time lead.

Over the final 25 mins the crowd were rewarded with some good end to end rugby and a final Barney try bringing the score 13-12 with 10 mins to play....

DMP held on courageously against some strong attack and came away the victors and County Cup champions for 2016!!!
