Another good morning of rugby!! It’s not just the players developing, the coaches are learning too!!

Following feedback from parents after the teams win over Blaydon & Percy Park, a more methodical approach was taken towards arranging the fixture against Sunderland. We hope we pleased everyone??

Thank you to our old friends Durham City RFC for visiting the Arena. A great team & bunch of lads that epitomise what rugby is all about; playing good hard rugby whilst acting like true gentleman on and off the pitch. A credit to their club and coaches.

The Mowden u13s continued on their rich vein of form and continued to improve and develop. A good reflection of the efforts the players and coaches have put in over the season. The players core skills are continuing to improve and develop and the general consensus from all parents & coaches was that it was a really good game of rugby to watch.

Each week coaches give the players simple roles or areas to develop and improve on and as coaches we are constantly impressed to see the players take this on board and implement it into a game situation.

The forward pack continue to improve in the set piece and becoming more physical in the loose ~ typified by Tom M who drove back an oncoming forward 15 meters whilst defending his own try line. The forwards then won the resulting scrum and set the backs up to score a well worked try!

Finally it was great to see Ollie and Kieran starting to take more control of the back line from the fly half position. With the backs being spoken to prior to kick off that communication is so important, it was great to see them all respond accordingly.

Over all, a good day at the office.

Thanks to all the mums, dads, granddads, grandmothers, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, guardians and friends that come along and support the players and help make it all possible.

Thanks also to Ian and Birchy whose endless admin ensures we have fixtures to play and are continuously trying to please everyone.
