U13 run winks in the wind

The first minute of the game set the tone for the first half. Jack Kennedy caught the ball from the kick-off, beat a couple of hen then fed Dylan Sharp who sprinted down the right from the half-way line to score under the posts and allow Sol Kench to add a simple conversion. One minute later Sam Berry and Sam Shanks were doing the same on the other flank with Sam Shank tackled just short of the line and Lyle Godfrey on hand to pick up and drop over the line for try 2.

Sam Shank was provider again a couple of minutes later, feeding Sol Kench to sprint away and score, then pad the conversion himself. From the subsequent kick off Joe Berry caught the ball, beat a couple of men then sprinted away to score followed by a long run down the left flank from Will Todd to make it five tries within 7 minutes.

Clearly the Sunderland coach got through to his players and they started to get into the game putting in some good tackles. Sunderland were even forcing DMP back into their own half when Sol Kench got the ball deep in his own half and sprinted down the right wing to score again and add the conversion. A minute later Will Todd was joining Sol on a brace of tries as he sprinted from hips own half before Sam Berry added the conversion.

More long distance running from DMP was to follow as first Sol Kench ran in another try from his own half and then Sam Berry intercepted out wide on the left and ran half the length of the field to score. the best of the first half tries was to follow with Jack Ziennedy showing great skill for a number 8 with a could if side steps followed by great pace and a hand-off as he ran in DMP's 10th try of the half.

Half-time: 0 - 58

With a hosts of personnel changes, DMP started to play more of a passing game especially through the middle of the pitch. A good phase of interplay between Tom Dixon and Will Todd led to the the latter going over for his hat-trick with James Garlick adding the extra two points. Next up was interplay between Will and Reece Loverock leading to Will's fourth try. The intensity of the interplay increased further and a lovely move down the middle of the field involving half of the DMP team led to Jack Williams scoring a try.

Jack Williams turned provider a little later after a crunching Jack Kennedy tackle in the DMP led to Jack's run and pass to James Garkick. Finally Jack Iennedy broke again and fed the supporting Callum Poopitt to score a try converted by prop (!) Tom Dixon.

Final score 0 - 87
