Great sportsmanship to help opposition

DMP started very brightly again and within the first minute John Grey was going over for the opening try of the game after the DMP had won turnover ball in the middle of the pitch. Straight from the restart DMP were attacking again with Will Todd feeding Sol Kench midway inside the DMP half, Sol showing a clean pair of heels to the Darlington defence to score under the posts. John Grey added the simple conversion.

DMP continued on top, with the forwards making metres down the centre of the pitch. As the drive drew in the Darlington defence Lyle Godfrey was able to pick up the ball and sprint away to score from which Will Todd added the extra two points. DMP continued to attack from distance from the kick off, with John Grey turning provider for James Garlick to sprint away from inside his own half to score and give Will Todd another simple conversion.

More tries soon followed firstly from Dylan Sharp after a break from inside his own half converted by Will Todd and then by Will Todd himself which again he converted.

Half time score 40 - 0

DMP started the second half as they had the first with Lyle Godfrey breaking away to score from 40 metres after more good forward work. After this score, Darlington started to show what they were capable of and put DMP under pressure. DMP defended well, with notable strong tackles from Jacob Wilson and Rufus Fox. Darlington pressure did tell on 29 minutes as one of two DMP lads playing for Darlington scored!

Shortly after the game was interrupted for a nasty injury to an extremely brave Lyle Godfrey to be dealt with. Following the restart DMP got back on top with Will Todd going over for a second try after concerted forward pressure and added the conversion himself.

Darlington again came back into the game and put pressure on DMP but were unable to force a further score. As full time approached DMP were able to regain the initiative and as the ball was fed out to the left Tom Dixon held off a Darlington tackle to free Jacob Wilson for a last ditch try.

Final score 57 - 5
