Great team performance

DMP started as they had finished off last week with fluent passing along the back line and a half break by James Garlick at outside centre let Will Todd have a glance of the line. He still had plenty of work to do but saw off the covering defence with an excellent hand-off allowing him to score under the posts, John Grey adding the conversion to make it 7-nil after 4 minutes.

The DMP forwards quickly showed good handling too with Tom Dixon stealing the ball and feeding George Todd who found Joe Berry in support. As he was tackled Joe passed to Matthew Smyth who spotted a gap in the defence and hared off over the line for a try. Blaydon came back into the game from the kick-off and made DMP do some defending, but soon DMP were back in the attack down the right wing. Firstly Sol Kench broke back inside and found Dylan Sharp in support and Sol kicked the conversion, then a strong run by Sol resulted in a Blaydon line out about 5 metres out from which DMP took turnover ball and Tom Dixon drove over the line on 16 minutes.

Despite changing the whole of the front 5 DMP remained on top allowing James Garlick to make a side-stepping break and free Will Todd for his second try of the game which he converted himself. As half time approached James was again the provider, this time for John Grey to sidestep his way over for a 6th try of the half. Sam Berry added the conversion.

Half time score 38 - 0

Clearly the Blaydon half-time team talk was effective as they exerted pressure on DMP who had made a further series of personnel changes. From about 50 metres the Blaydon wing went on a long run down the right flank and ended scoring under the posts.

The game was a lot closer for 10 minutes with good defence from both sides nullifying the attacking threat. Eventually the strength and freshness of the DMP forwards began to tell with Tom Dixon able to feed George Todd from a maul for George to go over for his first try for DMP. Will Todd added an excellent conversion from out wide on the left.

Sooner the DMP backs were back into the action with Will Todd's break allowing James Garlick to score. Will was provider again 2 minutes from time as a fed Dylan Sharp to score his second of the day which Will converted.

Final score 57 - 5
