U13's First game in the Northern Echo Arena

The U13 welcomed Sunderland to their first game in the Northern Echo Arena. DMP started very strongly and were celebrating a Will Todd try under the posts within 2 minutes after the pack had taken a scrum against the head just inside the Sunderland half, the backs showing good handling to free Will to show his pace. John Grey added a simple conversion. John Grey was soon back in action 2 minutes later with a second simple conversion after he'd freed Dylan Sharp with a darting break through the Sunderland defense which Dylan finished in style.

DMP continued to be on top, retaining the ball well and running at a determined Sunderland defense. On 9 minutes the ball was yet again delivered down the back line, this time for Sol Kench to show his pace with a dart down the right wing.
With the DMP backs showing they could breach the Sunderland defense, the forwards decided to step up a gear. After DMP had played the ball to the right wing then back to the left, Joe Berry was on hand in the centre of the pitch to collect the ball and finish with pace from 20 metres - Will Todd added the conversion on 15 minutes.

DMP continued in the ascendancy as half time approached pressuring the Sunderland line. From a 5 metre scrum with 5 minutes left Jack Kennedy picked up and drove over.

Half time score 26 - 0

The second half started very much as the 1st half did, with Reece Loverock going over for a try after another John Grey break and pass.
This latest score seemed to spur Sunderland on, and they came thundering back into contention for the half. After camping deep in DMP's 22 for several minutes DMP's defense thought they had covered the danger but Sunderland were able to breach the line and get the ball down for a try despite the best efforts of George Todd and Tom Dixon to get under the ball.

The game continued to be more balanced, with both sides threatening and also showing determined defense in equal measure. Only DMP were able to turn pressure into more points with John Grey breaking the line once more and feeding Joe Berry for his second try of the game, which John Grey duly converted from out wide.

As full time approached, DMP's stamina and large squad paid off as their forwards took charge once more as firstly Matthew Auger feed Tom Dixon for a try on 47 minutes and then 2 minutes later good passing from Jack Kennedy to Joe Berry and finally to Matthys Mooij led to the last try of the game. Will Todd added the conversion.

Final score 55 - 5
