DMP U15 were off to a flying start in the first competitive fixture of the
season, with the pack taking a scrum against the head in the middle of the
pitch, Robert Carney kicking deep and recovering the ball but falling just
short of the line. However Lyle Godfrey was in support to score from close
range with Rob adding the conversion.
Immediately after the restart Joe Berry, Tom Dixon and John McKenna made a
number of drives down the centre of the pitch, and with the Consett defence
sucked in Will Todd was able to sprint round for a score which he converted
himself.
After these two early scores Consett steadied themselves and got into the
match and the game started to be played in the middle of the park. After a
couple of turnovers each way from good breakdown work, DMP got the ball out
to Lyle Godfrey in the unfamiliar wing position and he scored his second of
the game, Robert Carney again adding the extra points.
Strong tackling from Ben Turnbull created the next opportunity, the turnover
ball going to Ezra Laundy-Blair who broke from half way to score under the
posts, allowing Will Todd an easy conversion.
On the stroke of half-time Ezra became provider from No.8 after feeding Sam Shank
down the blind side of a 5 metre scrum.

DMP remained on top as the game resumed and when Tom Dixon recovered a
missed kick to touch, Sam Shanks then Ben Turnbull made progress down the
middle allowing Will Todd to cross the line. Sam Shanks added another try
shortly after when running through the Consett defence after the pack had
won a scrum against the head, and Robert Carney added the conversion.
The game ended with another DMP try by Will Todd after good line-out
lifting producer clean ball near the Consett line.
