Following some recent cancelled games due to frozen pitches DMP started 2025 with a trip to TREDZ league leaders Redcar and with attendance to recent training being at best 'sporadic' the coaches made a decision to play those that turned up to every session, followed by those that missed one session, etc, etc. When you add to this some players being unavailable for todays game it made for some serious head scratching and player position selection. However...

DMP started well and took the game straight to Redcar which possibly shocked the favourites and our lads in equal measure. Within the first 10 minutes J Park had made a break from the DMP 22 gapping all but one Redcar player to score and then convert the first try, shortly followed by some great DMP pressure with F Turnbull falling short and O Doswell getting over the whitewash for DMP's second. Redcar 0 - DMP 12.
Redcar turned up the pressure securing a couple of tries and with some DMP defensive errors they scored a couple more.
In what seemed like a short time DMP had gone from a 12 point lead to getting behind by 14.

HT - Redcar 26 - DMP 12.

DMP didn't give up and started the 2nd half much as they did the first, they kept pressure on Redcar, forcing Redcar penalties and pushing on towards the opposition 22. With D Wild help short on the line DMP were taken back to a penalty where W Chalmers ran onto O Doswells pass and took the ball over the line. Shortly after B Maul put his first points on the board (conversion J Park) and D Drodrolagi followed suit 10 minutes later putting DMP back in the lead. Redcar 26 - DMP 29.
With both teams tiring yet neither team ready to give up and both battling hard Redcar scored what can only be described as a controversial try (conversion missed) to put them back in the lead by 2. Redcar 31 - DMP 29.
Heading into the dying minutes, Redcar fans were willing the final whistle but DMP forced yet another Redcar penalty inside their 22, this time it was B Maul who took the ball at speed through the Redcar defence and over the line to score his second. A delayed conversion in front of the sticks by J Park took the game to time and handed DMP the 'W'.
