Late Warren Seals penalty gives DMP narrow win at Kingsey Road.

Darlington Mowden Park notched their second consecutive win after an impressive away victory over Chinnor. Garry Law's side had trailed 13-20 heading into the final half hour, but finished the game strongly to take 4 points home from their trip to Oxfordshire.

The hosts took the lead after 5 minutes through a Bader Pretorious penalty, before Ryan Crowley dived over after a strong carry from Sam Yawayawa. Pretorious converted to give Chinnor a 10-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Mowden narrowed the gap to 7 with a Warren Seals penalty, before levelling the scores on the 20 minute mark. A well worked backs move from an attacking scrum took DMP up towards the line, before Garry Law latched on to a Josh Crickmay carry to sneak over next to the posts. Another penalty from the boot of Seals gave Mowden their first lead of the game after a 50m break from full back Liam Checksfield on his first DMP start. Chinnor then applied the pressure and Grayson Maguire was sent to the bin for an infringement close to the line. The home side took full advantage, as Freddie Tuilagi dived over from the resulting lineout. Despite being down to 14, Mowden almost re-took the lead on the eve of half time but Chinnor did well to halt a powerful DMP driving maul, leaving the scores at 15-13 at the break.

Chinnor started the second half in similar fashion to the first, and extended their lead on 43 minutes. Some sharp handling from the forwards put scrum half Luke Carter over for their third try to take the lead to 7 points. A host of second half substitutions for Mowden then made a positive impact, with two of them combining for DMP's second try of the afternoon. First it was the returning Morgan Passman who's powerful carry took play into the Chinnor half, before a beautifully worked move saw Garry Law put Euan McKirdy through to dot down under the posts. Seals added the simple extras to level the scores heading into the final quarter. The next 15 minutes saw Mowden defend brilliantly to hold Chinnor at bay despite a number of dangerous attacks, with Garry Law and Tom Marshall winning key turnovers for the visitors. A series of penalties then took Mowden into the Chinnor 22, before Chinnor were penalised in front of their own posts. Seals slotted the penalty to give Mowden a late lead heading into the final 5 minutes. A nervy finale saw Chinnor kick to the corner with time expired, but some stellar work from Will Jones at the resulting maul sealed the points for DMP.

Mowden return to National One action on Saturday as they welcome Rams to the Darlington Arena in a 3pm kick off. Tickets are available to buy online by clicking here.
