With two evenly matched sides on display, it was the home side who edged the game at the final whistle, using the elements and the slope to their best advantage after oranges.
In fact it was the visitors who forged ahead just prior to the game entering the final quarter, before Chinnor RFC rallied, scoring two tries later on to seal the victory.
Debutant DMPRFC full back Josh HODGE opened proceedings for the visitors, when ghosting through the home defence for an early try (0 – 5), converted by league top points scorer Warren SEALS. (0 – 7)
Chinnor responded in kind, when influential ex-Welsh international winger Will HARRIES crossed for a try (5 – 7), converted by Laurence MAY. (7 – 7)
DMPRFC back row Rob FARRAR found the try-line ten minutes later (7 – 12) followed shortly afterwards by a penalty from SEALS (7 – 15), the visitors dominance of the first quarter was rewarded by the score-line.
Chinnor fought back in the second quarter though, first with a MAY penalty (10 – 15), followed by a try from Jason WORRALL (15 – 15).
DMPRFC hooker Dave NELSON was adjudged to have pulled down the maul after an attacking Chinnor lineout drive and was promptly yellow carded.
MAY slotted another penalty (18 – 15), as the first half came to a close, with the home side enjoying a slender lead at the break.
Within three minutes, Chinnor had scored again, this time replacement flanker James TYAS registering (23 – 15), which MAY converted. (25 – 15).
With the stiff breeze and slope against them, DMPRFC did well to respond, when burly flanker Robert FARRAR crossed the try-line (25 – 20), SEALS reliably converting. (25 – 22) and then regained the lead with a fine effort from Ollie WALKER, (25 – 27) giving DMPRFC the try bonus point.
DMPRFC were penalised inordinately throughout the game for persistent offside and Chinnor capitalised, using the conditions to pin DMPRFC back in their own half as the game progressed.
As a result, Chinnor took hold of the game and to their credit registered with another two tries, the first from replacement prop Danny SOUTHWORTH (30 – 27), converted by MAY (32 – 27), followed by an unconverted try from replacement full back Kieran GOSS (37 – 27), which sealed the win.
