Fantastic Four as Seven-Try DMP Dominate Fylde
Darlington Mowden Park RFC 45 – 10 Fylde RFC (HT: 24 - 0)
Saturday 3rd October 2026 - Darlington Arena
Darlington Mowden Park RFC extended their sensational winning streak to four matches on the bounce, delivering a magnificent seven-try masterclass against a determined Fylde RFC side.
On a bright, warm autumnal afternoon at The Arena—with the playing surface in arguably the finest condition in recent memory—the home side treated the almost 700-strong crowd to a spectacular exhibition of free-flowing, attacking rugby.
Furious First Half
Mowden caught the visitors cold, opening their account within just 60 seconds of the kick-off. Winger Alfie Warrick dashed across the whitewash to lay down an early marker and put DMP 5-0 up.
The pressure remained relentless. Just six minutes later, fly-half Charlie Dinneen sliced through to touch down. Full-back Mark Williams slotted the conversion, securing the first of what would be an incredible 15-point personal haul on the day.
By the 15-minute mark, the Mowden pack joined the party. Powerhouse prop Charlie Turnbull barged over from close range, with Williams adding the extras to stretch the lead to 19-0.
Even a temporary setback couldn't halt the momentum. Despite losing second-rower Luke Coulston to a yellow card, DMP's 14 men refused to let Fylde capitalise on the numerical advantage. Instead, the shorthanded hosts delighted the home faithful by turning defense into attack, setting up Alfie Warrick to claim his second try of the half. The teams headed down the tunnel for oranges with Mowden holding a commanding 24-0 lead.
Relentless DMP Seal the Points
The second half began with the exact same high-octane tempo. Ten minutes after the restart, the mercurial Mark Williams turned scorer, diving over before converting his own try to move the score to 31-0.
A momentary break in Mowden’s fluid play came when influential scrum-half and playmaker Ben Douglas was forced off with an injury. Fylde quickly seized on the disruption, breaking through a resolute Mowden defense just minutes later as second-row Matt Garrod claimed the visitors' first points of the afternoon.
However, this DMP squad is nothing if not resilient. Wrestling back the momentum almost immediately, prop Sam Clarke powered over for another try, neatly converted by Williams, to make it 38-5 heading into the final quarter.
A raft of Mowden substitutions briefly disrupted the team's rhythm, allowing Fylde to reach double figures as Lewis Quinn crossed the line. But fittingly, it was the hosts who bookended the afternoon's scoring. With five minutes remaining, Charlie Dinneen ghosted through for his second try of the match, with Williams adding the final exclamation point from the tee.
Full-Time: DMP 45 - 10 Fylde
The final score of 45-10 arguably understated Mowden's sheer dominance and balance of play across the 80 minutes. The vocal home crowd warmly applauded both teams off the pitch, grateful for a highly entertaining, top-tier display of National League rugby.
