The first half was a low scoring affair, and DMP got themselves on the board early through a Garry Law penalty following a Lions ruck infringement. Leicester then had a series of attacking 5m lineouts but Mowden defended the driving maul brilliantly to keep the visitors out. Mowden had to wait until the 20th minute for their next points, when Harry Yates crashed through from close range after some sustained pressure on the Leicester line. Law converted, but those would prove to be Mowden's last points of the half as Leicester continued to grow into the contest. The DMP defence held firm however, and ended the first half by thwarting yet another catch and drive on their own 5m line.

Mowden started the second half on the front foot, but lost number 8 Ollie Hodgson to injury early on leading to a reshuffle in the back row. The hosts almost extended their lead through a Garry Law drop goal which fell just short, but they kept the pressure on the visitors and enjoyed the lions share of the early possession. Mowden's second try of the afternoon was a full team effort, sparked by a lineout steal from Joe Craggs and a deft chip ahead from Law. Yates gathered well, and eventually dived over in the left corner after some good work from Callum Mackenzie in the build up. Yates' try took Mowden's lead outside 2 score range, and they were pegged back through the boot of Dan Lewis on 54 minutes. The Lions were reduced to 14 soon after though, as Simon Johnson saw yellow for a high tackle on Josh Ree. Mowden almost took advantage straight away, but Eoin Harrison was held up over the line after a driving maul. They didn't have to wait long for their third try however, with Max Fraine dotting down from another catch and drive minutes later. Law converted to stretch the lead further, and the all important fourth try followed when Callum Pascoe intercepted out wide to dot down under the posts. Leicester pressed for a consolation try late on, but Mowden's defence held firm to seal a vital home win at the Arena.

DMP's Charlie Smith was awarded Man of the Match honours after a tireless display, and credit must go to the Mowden pack for defending brilliantly throughout despite players playing in unfamiliar positions in the second half.
