Darlington Mowden Park continued their form from last weekend's win over Rams with an impressive home victory against Sedgley Park.

The visitors provided a stern test for DMP, but a strong team performance ground out an important home win.

After an impeccably observed minutes silence to mark Remembrance Day, Mowden made a bright start and camped themselves in the Sedgley half in the early stages. They opened the scoring inside 10 minutes, when Callum Pascoe sniped over after some sustained pressure on the Sedgley Park line. The Tigers almost hit back instantly, but Joe Craggs did brilliantly to hold the ball up over the line. The two sides then exchanged penalties via Warren Seals and Josh Ree, before yellow cards from Tom Ailes and Craggs in quick succession. The visitors hit back soon after the second yellow, with their potent driving maul finished off by hooker Adam Mallinson. Sedgley Park then enjoyed their best spell of the half. After Will Jones had prevented a try in the right corner, a strong Sedgley Park scrum saw Ailes dot down to edge the visitors ahead. Seals' conversion attempt drifted wide, with the half time score 10-15 to the away side.

The strength of Sedgley's pack was ominous, but Mowden managed the game brilliantly in the second half to keep the Tigers out of the 22. After some strong defence it was Ben Frankland who levelled the scores, after a well timed pass from debutant Nathan Greenwood put the inside centre through a gap. Mark Goodman was shown yellow for high tackle, and DMP took full advantage when Yaree Fantini darted over from the resulting driving maul. Corben Ollivent's conversion stretched the lead to 7, with a penalty minutes later taking the gap to 10. Mowden came close to a fourth try after breaks from Joe Craggs and Harry Yates, but it was Sedgley Park who snatched a late bonus point with a late Warren Seals penalty. The 80th minute penalty was the visitors' first entry into the DMP 22 of the half, testament to Mowden's defensive work after half time.

Ollie Hodgson was given Man of the Match honours after a brilliant all round display in both attack and defence. Mowden now face a trip to Rosslyn Park in Round 10, while Sedgley Park return to Park Lane for a local derby against Sale FC. DMP's next home game is on Saturday 25th November when they welcome Taunton to the Darlington Arena. You can get your tickets online here.
