Moseley enjoyed the best of the opening half, and opened the scoring early on through Ollie Alsopp who took full advantage of an overlap on the right. Mowden replied immediately, with Moseley infringing at the breakdown after a Callum Pascoe break and Matt Minogue adding the simple penalty. The hosts replied with a penalty of their own, before Mowden got their first try of the afternoon after 20 minutes. A well worked lineout saw Pascoe feed Passman on half way, with the winger breaking three tackles on his way to the line. The end-to-end nature of the first 40 continued when Moseley fullback Thomas Benjamin dived over after a quickly taken penalty. Once again DMP hit back through the boot of Minogue, but Moseley finished the half the strongest when prop David Langley powered over on the eve of half time. Half time score 22-11.
The hosts got the all important next score, with hooker Sam McNulty profiting from a driving maul to stretch the gap to 18. Mowden have been no strangers to second half comebacks this season, and dominated the remainder of the game. First Passman burst clear on the left for his second of the day, before his third came in similar fashion after a brilliant break from fellow winger Henry Hadfield. Mowden could, and perhaps should, have had another when Passman broke clear once again, however play was called back for a tight forward pass call in midfield. With the deficit cut to 6, Mowden continued to pile on the pressure and the comeback was complete with just 2 minutes to play. Playing with a penalty advantage, Joe Craggs found substitute Ollie Walker on his outside shoulder with the winger breaking two tackles on his way to a fantastic score. Minogue converted to edge DMP ahead by a single point, but a late Moseley penalty with the clock in the red saw the hosts deny Mowden a memorable away win.
The two bonus points in defeat sees Mowden leapfrog Leeds Tykes into 8th position heading into their Friday Night Lights clash later this week. Tickets are available online by clicking here.
