
Job Description
A new exciting role has been identified to work with DMP Sharks supporting with the implementation and delivery of their instrumented mouthguards project. This will be a Pro Rata fixed term contract running until 30th June 2023 which will require you to work embedded within the club for two and a half days per week. The role will require you to support on integrating, collating, and analysing video, GPS, and the instrumented mouthguard data. You will be expected to produce reports for the Medical and Performance teams following training and matches. It is anticipated that you may also assist with collection of other types of data for welfare and performance needs as appropriate.
Initially, the role will require you to ensure that the instrumented mouthguards are properly set-up, used, and data is captured. This will enable the data to be used in studies being led by World Rugby, England Rugby and Premiership Rugby. Subsequently, you will continue to deliver and develop the data integration and reports with the Club.
The successful individual will be expected to work with club practitioners to develop and manage data dashboard and report formatting, along with integrating and analysing the video, GPS and instrumented mouthguard data following each session. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the Head of Medical and Sports Scientist, to ensure the data being collected is providing valuable information and is reported in a timely and comprehensible manner.
It is also anticipated that you may become involved in data collection for other welfare and performance initiatives. This could include but is not limited to:
1. GPS data
2. Micro RNA saliva biomarkers
A discussion about your availability and suitability will be required before you become involved in these initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for aligning and integrating Instrumented Mouth Guard, video and GPS data sets for all field-based training sessions and matches during the season and video data
• Responsible for reporting and visualising integrated datasets for each training session / match to provide insight to a variety of stakeholders.
• Responsible for updating and maintaining a structured, query able database for both data sources
As this is a new role the everyday duties may adapt as the role evolves through the process, as required to deliver the objectives of the project, but this will be agreed collaboratively.
