Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce a new partnership with armed forces charity Sporting Force for the upcoming Armed Forces Day game against Sale FC on Saturday 29th February. Sporting Force is a registered charity that supports ex-service personnel that have been wounded, injured or become sick during their service. The charity offers them a route into civilian employment within the professional sports industry.
Sporting Force also helps veterans and their families by offering education, exercise and social events to help relieve mental health and social isolation. All the opportunities they offer are inclusive and can be adapted to meet the needs of their disabled veterans.
Sporting Force CEO Tommy Lowther commented: “After a recent meeting with Nick at Mowden Park it became clear he shared the same passion of wanting to help our Armed Forces Community, and what better way to start this partnership than by sponsoring this great event, the Armed Forces open day on what promises to be a great day for all involved.
“We are a small locally based Charity and it is our primary focus to help Military Veterans get back into employment through sport, whether that be stewarding, hospitality or even a place in the first team it is absolutely vital we receive the backing from Clubs like Mowden Park in order for us to carry out the work we do. We can NOT forget the importance of our Armed Forces and the job they do to keep this country safe and we must work together to improve the wellbeing of our Armed Forces community as a whole and we are very excited about the possible opportunities that Mowden Park have to offer.”
The new partnership will see Sporting Force named as Official Match Day Sponsors for the game against Sale FC, with free tickets on offer to all military personnel and veterans.
Mowden Park’s Head of Commercial Nick Saint added: “We’re thrilled to be working with Sporting Force for our annual Armed Forces Day game. This provides a perfect opportunity for us to raise awareness of such a brilliant charity to the people who can benefit most from their support. The work they do is so valuable for the veterans that they support and I hope we can help to spread the word of the fantastic work they are doing right here in the North East.”
