Sheffield Tigers RFC were unfortunately relegated from SSE National League 2 (North) last weekend, when they went down at home to Caldy RFC (19 – 28).

However, as we found out the hard way last season, on their day, Sheffield Tigers RFC can beat anyone in this league and therefore they certainly will not be underestimated, especially at home.

Sheffield Tigers RFC’s top try scorer is the experienced back Peter Swatkins, who has 13 tries to his name and fly half Thomas Outram is their top kicker, with 102 points.

On the corresponding fixture at the Northern Echo Arena back in early November 2013, DMPRFC ran out comfortable winners (51 – 3), scoring nine tries via Callum MACKENZIE, Ross WHITE, Cameron MITCHELL, Michael WOOD (2), Henry ROBINSON, Ross DONEGHAN, Grant CONNON and Tom KILL, with Henry ROBINSON adding a conversion and Gavin PAINTER weighing in with another two conversions.

Nothing should be read into that score line, as was the experience at Luctonians RFC last Saturday, things can change very quickly.

In relation to the Luctonians RFC game at Mortimer Park, the players on the day had to ‘grind out’ a result, as well as the bonus point and although eventually achieved, it is testament to their resolve, that it was achieved against opponents who had no intention of allowing safe passage.

Tries from Jack ALLCOCK, Tom KILL, Shaun McCARTNEY and the winner from Zylon McGAFFIN, with a conversion from Max CONNON and two from Tom HODGSON eventually seeing DMPRFC through a tough encounter (18 – 26).

There is no thought of what happens after the Sheffield RFC game in the DMPRFC camp, just a focus on this week’s training and preparation for Saturday, taking each game as it comes.
