Darlington Mowden Park Sharks are delighted to announce the signing of Spain international Marta Carmona. The 26 year-old centre has already joined up with her new Sharks teammates and is in line to make her club debut on Saturday.

After arriving at her new club, Carmona said: "I'm very happy to be joining the Sharks. It's an exciting experience for me. I have always wanted to play outside Spain and experience other rugby cultures. England is the perfect destination because it has the best women's league in the world."

Carmona brings a wealth of international experience to the Sharks squad, and she was excited to kick off her stint at the Darlington club: "My main goal it's improve and grow as a player. I want to give and contribute all my rugby to Sharks and my ambition is to be selected again for the Spanish rugby team. Finally i hope to enjoy my time in England very much and that we have good results as a team."

Sharks Head of Programme Justin Loveridge added: "We're delighted to welcome Marta to the club for the Premier 15s season. I'm sure she will bring a lot to the squad and it's great for us to be able to add more experience to the group and increase the competition for places."
