Darlington Mowden Park Sharks are delighted to announce the signing of Spain captain Laura Delgado. The front row forward has joined up with the squad this week as they continue their preparations for the 2019/20 Tyrrells Premier 15s season.

29 year-old Delgado signs from Spanish Premiership side UAS Crocodrilas based in Seville, having also played domestic rugby in Madrid and Acoruña. Following her move to the North East, Delgago said: “For me, playing for the Sharks is a great opportunity, I am very happy and eager. Playing Premier 15s is a dream for many of us!”

The tighthead prop brings a wealth of international experience to her new side, having been a regular in the Spanish national side. Delgado has also played domestic rugby in France (Tarbes) and the USA (Philadelphia). She added: “I want to continue growing in this sport and I can’t wait to give my all for the Sharks and enjoy playing with my new teammates.”

Delgado becomes the latest summer signing for the Sharks, who have bolstered their squad with a number of international players in the off-season. Asked about the latest addition to his squad, Sharks Head of Programme Justin Loveridge commented: “We’re really excited to have the quality of Laura Delgado joining our squad for 2019/20 season. I’m sure she will bring leadership and experience to our forwards.”
