DMP Sharks are delighted to announce the signing of USA international Olivia Ortiz for the remainder of the Allianz Premier 15s season. The American scrum half joins her new teammates ahead of this weekend’s Round 7 clash with Worcester Warriors at the Arena. Asked about making the move to the Sharks, the 25 year-old said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Sharks and train in a full time environment. I’m looking forward to the challenges, growth, and relationships to come from this opportunity.”

Ortiz brings international quality to the Sharks squad, having made her debut for the United States against England in 2019. The scrum half has made 13 appearances on the international stage, including starting in USA’s win over Japan at the 2021 Rugby World Cup. Asked about the latest addition to his squad, performance manager Mark Luffman commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Olivia to the Sharks and I’m excited to see the impact she has on the field. At just 25 she already has a wealth of international experience under her belt and I’m sure this will have a positive influence on the squad as a whole.”
