George Shannon Re-Signs for 2022/23

Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce that George Shannon has re-signed with the club ahead of the upcoming National One season. The hooker will go into his second season with the club, having signed from Boroughmuir last summer. Asked about extending his time in the North East, Shannon said: “I’m delighted to have signed at Park for another season. Looking forward to getting back out on the pitch and playing in front of the amazing support.”

Despite missing the start of the season through injury, Shannon quickly established himself in the DMP front row, making 22 appearances across the season. The front rower crossed for 4 tries in his inaugural season at the Arena, including an all-important try at home to Tonbridge Juddians in March.

Heading into his second season with the club, DMP Forwards Coach Joe Cain was hoping for further progress from Shannon: “George had a great season last year and came on no end with the more games he played. We’re hoping for a smooth recovery process from his current injury but no doubt when he returns he’ll be ready to give his all. The sooner he’s back on the pitch for us the better!”.
