Sale enjoyed the better of the opening stages and took an early lead through hooker Leah Lyons who powered over from a driving maul. Fellow front rower Nic James then barged over from close range after sustained pressure on the DMP line, and they made it a full house of front row tries when Catie Benson scored off the back of a 5m scrum won against the head. The bonus point try came on the half hour mark when Daisy Hibbert-Jones dived over out wide. Further first half tries from Laura Perrin and a second for Lyons gave Sale a 38-0 lead at half time.
DMP made a better start to the second half and enjoyed some sustained pressure inside the Sale 22. Despite the pressure from the away side it was Sale who scored next, and pulled further clear through tries from Vicky Irwin and a second for Hibbert-Jones. The visitors didn’t let their heads drop however, and crossed for a well-earned try for back rower Maisie James late on after a number of phases in the Sale 22. Sale had the final say, with Katana Howard finishing well out wide to round off an impressive win for the hosts.
