Roland's Ride and SG Petch Junior 7s Raise Over £5,000 for the MND Association

DMP Admin8 Jun - 17:00

A memorable day of rugby, cycling and fundraising at the Arena.

What a day it was at the Arena on Sunday 7th June as hundreds of players, supporters, volunteers and sponsors came together for Roland's Ride and the SG Petch Junior 7s, helping to raise an incredible £5,000+ for the MND Association.

Alongside the cycling challenge, the annual SG Petch Junior 7s tournament once again showcased the very best of youth rugby, with teams from across the region competing in a fantastic day of action.

After a series of highly competitive matches, congratulations go to Tynedale U14 Boys and Houghton U14 Girls, who were crowned this year's tournament champions.

Both sides produced outstanding performances throughout the day, demonstrating the skill, determination and sportsmanship that made the tournament such a success.

Among the many inspiring moments from the day was Ruth Thomson, who completed Roland's Ride while pulling her sister, Cath Muir, on her bike. Cath has been living with MND for more than 10 years, and seeing the pair take on the challenge together was a truly moving and inspirational sight for everyone involved.

We would also like to thank Tamara Taylor for taking the time to participate in the event. It was heartbreaking to learn that her mother has also been diagnosed with the disease, making her support of the day and the cause all the more meaningful.

The event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, volunteers, officials, coaches, players and supporters, all of whom played their part in creating a memorable occasion while raising vital funds for the MND Association.

Stories like these are a powerful reminder of why events such as Roland's Ride are so important and why the fight against MND continues to matter to so many people.
