Darlington Mowden Park are excited to announce the signing of Josh Oppong, who joins the club from Newcastle University ahead of the 2026/27 season.

A talented player with plenty of potential, Josh becomes another exciting addition to the squad as preparations continue for the new campaign. Arriving from Newcastle University, he brings energy, ambition and a strong desire to make his mark in senior rugby.

Josh is eager to begin the next chapter of his career at DMP and is looking forward to becoming part of the club both on and off the field.

Speaking after completing his move, Josh said:
"I look forward to joining the Mowden Park family and getting stuck in to an exciting season of rugby."

Director of Rugby Neil Young is also pleased to welcome another promising player to the squad.
"Josh has starred for Newcastle University over the last few seasons and he's a player we've admired for some time. We actually wanted to bring him in last year, but unfortunately he couldn't commit as he was helping Newcastle push for promotion in the BUCS competition. This season he's on placement, which means he can fully commit to Darlington Mowden Park, and we're delighted to finally get the deal done. He's a hardworking, athletic player with a great attitude and a real desire to improve. We believe he'll fit into our environment brilliantly, and we're excited to see him develop in a Mowden shirt."

With pre-season preparations well underway, Josh’s arrival adds further quality and competition to the squad as Mowden continue to strengthen ahead of an exciting 2026/27 season.
