Max Fraine signs up for 2022/23

With less than 6 weeks to go until the opening of the National One season, we’re delighted to announce the signing of hooker Max Fraine from Waimea Old Boys. The New Zealander will join up with DMP following the conclusion of the NZ domestic season, and he was looking forward to the challenge ahead: “I’m very excited to be joining and can’t wait to embrace the new challenge. Talking with Garry about the team and club really appealed to me and northern hemisphere rugby is something I’ve always wanted to experience.”

The 22 year-old front rower is a product of the Crusaders Academy, and has more recently represented Tasman Mako at representative level. Looking forward to the season ahead, he added: “My goals are to get some good minutes under my belt early on and contribute everything I can towards the team’s success, hopefully making some good new mates along the way.”

Fraine joins a growing list of players to commit to the 2022/23 campaign, with the DMP squad taking shape ahead of their opening pre-season game against Blaydon on 13th August. Asked about the latest addition to his squad, DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law commented: “Pleased to have Max come on board for the new season. We are quite thin on the ground hooker wise so Max's arrival will bring much needed competition for the starting shirt. He'll be match fit on arriving as he’s still actively playing in New Zealand which will be good.”
