Mowden take an emphatic win after an entertaining clash at the Arena!

A brilliant team performance saw Mowden take a dominant 53-16 win over Hull at the Arena on Saturday. DMP ran in 8 tries, including two for Yaree Fantini and Ben Frankland, to climb to 9th in the National One table.

It didn't take long for Mowden to hit their stride. After the opening kickoff was well gathered by Joe Craggs the ball was recycled for Garry Law to break through the middle before Ollie Hodgson burrowed over for the opening try inside a minute. A yellow card for Max Davies halted DMP's momentum, with Reece Dean slotting a penalty to get Hull on the board. A Matt Minogue penalty restored the lead to 5, before that lead was doubled soon after when Josh Crickmay finished well after a break on the right wing from Fantini. Another yellow for DMP followed, with Craggs sent to the bin and Dean slotting the resulting penalty. Despite playing half of the opening 40 with 14 men it was Mowden who scored next, with Fantini latching onto a perfectly weighted kick from Callum Pascoe to dive over in the corner. Half time score 20-6.

Mowden started the second half as they did the first, and secured the bonus point try minutes after the restart when Alfie Barron crashed over in the corner from a well-rehearsed lineout move. The visitors battled back well though, and had their first try of the afternoon when the lively Mike Adlard sprinted over on the left wing. A breathless second half continued when Ben Frankland slid over after breaks from Max Davies and Hodgson, with Minogue converting to stretch the lead further. A sixth soon followed when Ali Ledingham fed Fantini on his inside shoulder for the back rower to dive over under the posts and put the result beyond any doubt. To their credit Hull continued to attack from all parts of the field and they were rewarded on the hour mark when Harrison Astley scored in the corner after a brilliant break from Adlard. Ollie Walker then finished well after a break from Carl Guest to grab Mowden's 7th, before an interception try from Frankland rounded off a strong showing from DMP.

Yaree Fantini was awarded Man of the Match honours after a standout display, with a number of notable individual performances from Garry Law's side.
