Mowden take maximum points and make it 3 wins in a row!

A brilliant performance saw Mowden take a bonus point win against Rams at the Arena on Saturday. Tries from Warren Seals, Morgan Passman, Josh Crickmay and Freddie Lockwood helped Mowden to their third consecutive league win, whilst a late Tom Vooght try rescued a brace of bonus points for the visitors.

The two sides exchanged early penalties through Andrew Humberstone and Warren Seals, before Seals gave Mowden their first lead of the game after getting on the end of a brilliant Lockwood offload in the Rams 22. The lead was extended soon after, when another attacking lineout produced Mowden's second try of the afternoon. Breaks from Liam Checksfield and Louie Johnson took DMP into the visitors' 22, before Checksfield found Morgan Passman on the right wing to finish well under pressure. Rams responded quickly however, and narrowed the gap to 7 when hooker Ollie Moffitt profited from a strong Rams driving maul. Mowden came close to extending their lead on the eve of half time but the ball was knocked on out wide, making the score 15-8 at the break.

A bright start to the second half saw Mowden score their third try through prop Josh Crickmay. A brilliant line from Will Jones took DMP up towards the line, before Crickmay provided the finishing touch to barge over from close range. Seals converted, before Rams mounted an impressive second half comeback. The away side's driving maul again proved a strength as first Tom Vooght and then replacement hooker Max Hayman scored on the back of attacking 5m lineouts. Humberstone was unable to convert either try, leaving Mowden with a nerve wracking 4 point lead heading into the final stages. The decisive try came on 77 minutes, as Man of the Match Freddie Lockwood rounded off an impressive all round performance with a deserved try after a well timed pass from Euan McKirdy. There was still time for Rams to rescue 2 bonus points from the game, as Vooght crossed for his second try with time expired.

Mowden now face a trip to Cambridge in Round 9, while Rams take on Sale FC.
