Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce the signing of Liam Checksfield ahead of the 2021/22 National One season. Checksfield joins the club from Tynedale, having made 37 appearances for the North East side. Ahead of his switch to DMP, the 22 year-old commented: “After so long without playing rugby, it’s a great privilege to be given the opportunity to run out with the guys at Mowden."

The young outside centre becomes Mowden's third new signing of the summer, after the additions of forwards Will Jones and George Shannon. Checksfield has been ever-present for Tynedale in recent seasons, scoring 11 tries across 2 seasons prior to lockdown. Asked about the latest addition to his squad, DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law added: "Liam is a player we have kept tabs on for the last few seasons as we feel he can add something different to our backline."

"He is still a young lad with ambitions to play at a higher level. I'm very much looking forward to Liam getting up to speed with our style of play and really putting his stamp on things."
