Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce the signing of Archie Maggs for the 2023/24 National One season. The tighthead prop joins the club having represented both Richmond and Coventry in the Championship last season, and is in contention for a first DMP appearance this weekend against Blackheath. Asked about making the move to Mowden, Maggs said: “I’m really excited to get started. Really great group of lads. Looking forward to the rest of the season.”

20 year-old Maggs brings a strong rugby pedigree to the squad, having progressed through the Bath Rugby academy. The front rower has also represented England U19s, and will add further quality and competition to the DMP pack. Last season saw Archie gain further playing experience in the Championship during loan spells at Richmond and Coventry.

Asked about the latest addition to the playing squad, Forwards Coach Joe Cain added: “Maggs joined us last week and has shown a positive attitude in training over the last few sessions. He’s a big lad and comes to us having had some good academy experiences at Bath. Looking forward to see him play this year and hoping he can add some bulk to our pack.”
