Mowden hold on to make it back-to-back wins at the Arena!

Darlington Mowden Park secured a narrow win over Moseley on Saturday after a nervy finish at the Darlington Arena. Garry Law's side had led by 15 heading into the final stages, before a late comeback from the visitors saw them fall just short of an unlikely comeback.

Mowden made a bright start, and drew first blood when Ben Frankland finished well after good hands from Alfie Barron and Callum Pascoe in the build up. It wasn't long before he had his second, with Louie Johnson finding a gap in midfield before Yaree Fantini put Frankland through with a well timed offload. Mowden almost had their third when Max Davies broke through the middle, but it was the visitors who scored next when Aquille Smith dotted down under the posts. DMP finished the half strong however, and Josh Crickmay crashed over for his second try in as many games to extend the Mowden lead to 12 points at the break.

The second half was a much closer affair, with no change to the score until the 70th minute when Johnson slotted a long-range penalty to stretch the gap to 15. The game looked all but over, but a late onslaught from Moseley saw them almost snatch an unlikely victory. Mowden were first reduced to 14 as Yaree Fantini was shown yellow, closely followed by Anthony Egodo diving over in the corner. With just minutes left on the clock the visitors had their third, with Ollie Allsopp sprinting clear to dot down under the sticks. Lewis converted both to narrow the gap to a single point, and the Moseley 10 had a chance to win it late on but his long range penalty drifted wide much to the relief of the home fans.

Mowden now make the short trip to Leeds Tykes next weekend, while Moseley embark on a tough run of fixtures starting with a home game against Rams.
