Darlington Mowden Park are pleased to announce the re-signing of Shaun McCartney ahead of the 2022/23 National One season. The winger has made 122 appearances for the club, scoring over 50 tries in the process. Speaking after extending his stay at the Arena, he said: “Not being able to play every week is hard. Which makes every game I do play more enjoyable and strive harder for the boys, coaching staff members and more! Mowden is home, and I’ll be here until I retire.”

Despite missing a number of games due to work commitments, McCartney was still an integral part of the DMP squad last season. The winger made 9 appearances last time out, with tries against Taunton and Cambridge taking his personal tally to 63 in a DMP shirt.

McCartney becomes the latest player to commit to the upcoming campaign, which kicks off in just 7 weeks time with a home game against Chinnor on 3rd September. Asked about McCartney re-signing for 2022/23, DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law commented: “We’re pleased that Shaun is back on board for the new season. Hoping to get him firing on all cylinders as we all know how much of a danger man he can be when playing at his best.”
