Darlington Mowden Park return to home soil on Saturday as they go in search of their first win of the National One season. They'll face visitors Rosslyn Park who will also be hoping to get their first victory of the campaign, setting up an important game at the Arena this weekend.
Rosslyn Park have been mainstays in National One for over a decade, and have finished in the top 4 in each of the last 4 seasons. Like Mowden, they've endured a tough start to the 2024/25 campaign, with defeats against Rotherham, Richmond and Blackheath. Round 2 saw them denied an opening win by a late Richmond drop goal, with last weekend's loss at Blackheath seeing them narrowly avoid a losing bonus point after a last minute penalty for the hosts.
Mowden have had a testing start to the season, not helped by a number of injuries to key players in the opening weeks. This will no doubt hand opportunities to the wider squad this weekend, who will be hoping to kickstart their season with a win on Saturday.
The two sides have played out some memorable clashes over the years, with Rosslyn Park edging the head to head in league outings. Last season saw Rosslyn do the double over Mowden, with their last meeting at the Arena ending in a 30-36 win after an end-to-end contest back in March.
Looking ahead to Round 4, Director of Rugby Garry Law said: "Some honest group chats this week at training following the second half performance v Richmond. We have highlighted some work on's and after a positive reaction on the training field we are hoping to right some wrongs this weekend. The injury list has increased so will be seeing some new faces make their competitive debuts and will be looking to impress and grab hold of the shirt."
