Mowden travel to Silver Leys in Round 10 (3pm Kick Off)

Darlington Mowden Park will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins in National One this weekend when they make the trip to Bishop’s Stortford. Garry Law’s side will look to carry momentum from Saturday’s win over Leicester Lions as they head into Round 10.

Saturday’s hosts come into the game on the back of a narrow defeat under the Friday night lights against Rosslyn Park last time out. Stortford sit in 10th spot in the National One standings, with 3 wins from their 9 league games to date. Only one of those wins has come on home soil – a 36-12 victory over Leicester Lions on opening day. Since then they’ve had a tough run of fixtures at Silver Leys, facing high flying Richmond and Rams in recent weeks. Stortford ran league leaders Rams close in their Round 6 clash, ending in a low scoring 6-10 win for the table toppers.

Mowden will be buoyed by their first win of the season in Round 9, a victory which has closed the gap to the teams above them. Tries from Marcus Tiffen, Max Fraine, Alfie Barron, Henry Hadfield and Yaree Fantini helped DMP to a bonus point win, despite a late comeback from Leicester Lions. A win this weekend could see Mowden lift themselves off the foot of the table, heading into a home fixture against Bishop’s Stortford last time out.

DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law said: “Good to get the win on Saturday. We really took the game to them the first half and the intensity set the tone. We kind of let Lions back into it with some ill discipline after the halftime break and they took their tries well. Even know things started to go against them the lads stuck to it and came away with the much needed win.”

“We will take confidence from it and be looking to back it up this week against BS. The games are always open and quite high scoring against BS and we know we will have to tighten up on a few areas to put us in with a chance of an away win.”
