
Lichfield got the game underway and so began a period of pressure countered by a well organised defence from Sharks.
On 16 minutes Sharks try machine Rachel Woosey intercepted a pass on her own 10 metre line and turned on the afterburners to charge down the touchline showing the covering defenders a clean pair of heels to score under the post which was converted by Sam Jamison to leave the score Lichfield 0 DMP Sharks 7.
Lichfield responded to the score and redoubled their efforts showing a great understanding between forwards and backs only to be kept at bay by a well marshalled Sharks defence.
Lichfield kept the pressure up which eventually told when they broke through on the left hand side for Holly Aitchison to score which was converted leaving the score on 28 minutes. Lichfield 7 DMP Sharks 7.
Sharks responded with more aggression at the break down area slowing the ball down but they were unable to see the half out as Lichfield’s Harriet Millar Mills crossed on 40 minutes not converted leaving the score at half time Lichfield 12 DMP Sharks 7.
Sharks got the second half underway, on 43 minutes Sharks tackle machine Ruth Nash was unfortunately shown a yellow card for going off her feet in the ruck, the reduced numbers had an immediate effect as Harriet Millar Mills crossed again on 44 minutes for her second try which was converted leaving the score Lichfield 19 DMP Sharks 7.
On 61 minutes Sharks received another yellow card for not rolling away which saw Abbie Scott leave the field, this again had an immediate effect when on 62 minutes Harriet Millar Mills crossed the line for her third try which was converted leaving the score Lichfield 26 DMP Sharks 7.
On 63 minutes Sharks bad luck continued when another yellow card was shown to Sarah Bush who went to the bin for a high tackle.
Despite the lack of numbers Sharks continued to work hard in defence but it was Lichfield’s Harriet Millar Mills who had the last word on 72 minutes with her fourth try of the day when she intercepted a pass to race over the line to score under the post converted leaving the final score Lichfield 33 DMP Sharks 7.
