Full back Paul Jarvis re-signs for 2021/22

Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce that Paul Jarvis has re-signed with the club ahead of the upcoming 2021/22 National One season. The full back will go into his second full season with the club, having signed from Doncaster Knights in 2019.

The upcoming season will also see Jarvis continue his transition into coaching, as he takes a more active role in working with the 1st XV backs. Asked about extending his stay at the Arena, the 32 year-old said: “I’m happy to have re-signed with Mowden! I've really enjoyed my time here so far and COVID has obviously de-railed what we were building a little bit, but excited to try and get us back on track and have my hand in the coaching side of things to try and assist as much as I can to keep improving on our success.”

“I’m looking forward to getting back at it and seeing what squad we have assembled and to try and maximise the potential of it. I think everybody will be chomping at the bit to just get back out there again after all this time away! Looking forward to it.”

Jarvis’ first year with the club was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic but saw him finish on a high, scoring 4 tries and earning 2 Man of the Match awards in his last 4 games before the season was curtailed. Looking ahead to his impact both on and off the field next season, DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law added: “Really pleased to have Jarv with us for the upcoming season. It was always the plan when Paul first came on board that he would transition into a player coach role given his experience and natural leadership skills. His first season 2019/20 would have been frustrating on a personal level as he picked up an injury early doors that kept him out for some time."

"He 100% still has the x factor in his game and I'm sure is raring to go. We are very much looking forward to having Jarv’s playing ability back in a DMP shirt and also looking forward to him helping shape and push the team onwards in a coaching capacity.”

Stay tuned for more squad news and updates in the weeks to come as we continue to look forward to the upcoming season!
