As pre-season preparations continue for the upcoming National One campaign, DMP are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Liam Checksfield. The versatile back will go into his second season with the club, having signed from Tynedale in 2021. Asked about continuing his time with Mowden, he said: “I really enjoyed my first year at DMP. Can’t wait to jump into the new season and push for a more consistent finish.”

After missing the opening weeks of the season through injury, Checksfield was then involved in Mowden’s unbeaten run in October. Playing both on the wing and in the centres, he scored tries in back to back games against Cambridge and Sale FC, making 14 appearances before picking up an injury in the return trip to Sale back in March.

Asked about retaining Checksfield for another season, DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law added: “Liam has returned to pre-season very well after his injury away at Sale. He's a very clever and versatile player and someone I'm hoping can really kick on in his second season with us.”
