As preparations continue for the upcoming National One season, Darlington Mowden Park can confirm a number of tournament entries as part of the summer 7s series. Mowden Director of Garry Law commented: “Having had such a long lay off from any kind of rugby we feel that some summer 7s rugby will be a good way to kick start things. Ben Bourne who has just completed the 15s small season with his colts team is a keen 7s enthusiast and has very much been the driving force behind finding tournaments to enter and helping getting things up and running.

We will be using these tournaments to help Integrate some of the younger players as well as some newbies into the squad. Hopefully the weather shines as these days can be great for players and supporters a like.”

DMP will kick off the 7s season at the Morpeth 7s on Saturday 26th June with 2 team entries. They’ll then enjoy trips to Macclesfield, Tynedale and Stockton. DMP 7s coach Ben Bourne added: “I’m looking forward to a summer of 7s. DMP has a good history at the abbreviated code and I’m hoping this project can continue to grow and develop over the next few years.”
