As previously announced, John Newton and Danny Brown will return to the coaching setup for the upcoming season and be joined by brothers Neil & Richie Young.

Brown brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the club’s ethos, having played a key role in shaping its direction both on and off the pitch in recent years and will take up the role of Director of Rugby alongside coaching.

The duo of Neil Young and Richie Young are not only highly respected coaches, but also former Mowden players, bringing with them a strong connection to the club’s history and values. Well known to supporters, they continue to bring energy, knowledge, and a shared passion for player development.

Neil Young shared his enthusiasm about rejoining the club: “What a great opportunity to return to a club I have fond memories of and won National Three with as part of a great group of guys coached by Danny & Newts at the time. I’m excited to be coaching at a top level again and better still taking on the challenge that it will bring. The two main focuses for me are developing the players and a style on the field, and ensuring we have the right culture and desire both on and off it.

Those are the things I remember the most about my last stint here and I want to recreate that for the new set of players.”

Richie Young also spoke about the opportunity: “It’s great to be back at Mowden — a club that’s been a huge part of my rugby journey. I’m proud to now have the chance to contribute from a coaching perspective. We’ve got a tight-knit group coming together behind the scenes, and there’s a real determination to push the club forward. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and helping to drive high standards both in training and on matchdays.”

John Newton will offer support across the coaching setup bringing an expertise to the team’s attacking structure alongside individual skill development. Newton’s previous involvement was instrumental in the club developing a style of play throughout his tenure.
