Danny Brown To Step Down As DOR

Danny Brown To Step Down As DOR

DMP Admin15 May - 17:00

Same Commitment, New Focus

Darlington Mowden Park can today confirm that Danny Brown will be stepping down from his role as Director of Rugby, a decision made after deep consideration and with the full support of the club. But supporters need not worry as Danny will remain very much part of the Mowden family and will continue to play a vital role in the club’s future.

After answering the call during a turbulent period at the end of the 24/25 season, Danny stepped up without hesitation, taking on the Director of Rugby position at a crucial moment. His leadership, calm presence, and unwavering commitment helped steady the ship and guide the club through a new chapter.

Danny brought with him a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the club’s ethos. Having been instrumental in shaping Mowden's direction both on and off the pitch in recent years, he has been central to maintaining the culture, standards, and ambition that define this club.

Danny has now made the decision to step down from the DOR role and pass the baton to allow him to spend more time with his family and to focus more closely on stadium operations — an area where his expertise and passion will continue to elevate the matchday experience for supporters, partners, and the wider community.

The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Danny for the countless hours, tireless dedication, and unbelievable effort he has poured into the 2025/26 season. His impact has been immense, and his continued presence ensures stability, continuity, and ambition remain at the heart of everything we do.

A message from the man himself
“I’m hugely grateful to the three very good mates who stepped in to help when the club really needed it. It was easy for me to agree to help, but for those lads with family and work commitments, it really shows what this club means to people.

The players likewise have been fantastic. From a challenging situation in July, they’ve been brilliant to work with, and to finish 5th in a very tough league with the injuries we carried along the way shows the character and commitment of the whole group.

I stepped back into the role to help the club find a steady footing again, but for the same reasons I stepped down in 2021 — to spend more time watching and helping Bruno — it’s only fair I do the same for Hamish. For too many years the family have had to put up with me not being around all that much.

I’m really excited for the future of the club and will still be closely involved, but this change will allow me to concentrate on the day‑to‑day running of the arena and events, but more importantly, enjoy a bit more family time.”

We look forward to the next chapter with Danny still firmly part of the #MowdenFamily
